Frequently asked questions.

What is the difference between Montri Wellness and Montri Therapy services?

Montri Wellness offers several different programs and individual wellness services that bridge the gap between physical therapy and things like personal training or group fitness classes. Services are available anywhere in the United States. If you or your organization want to be fit, healthy, or less stressed, then Montri Wellness is for you.

Montri Therapy offers outpatient physical therapy. Therapy is available to individuals in Minnesota and Illinois. If you have had an injury, live with chronic pain, or a medical condition that requires physical therapy conditioning, then Montri Therapy is the right place for you.

Both Montri Wellness and Montri Therapy offer primarily virtual services, but in-person visits are possible depending on individual circumstances, including things like your condition or wellness needs and geographical location. If you aren’t sure if your needs qualify as physical therapy or wellness, just ask us!

How can you do physical therapy over video chat?

Research about how telehealth shows that many conditions can show excellent results.

If your condition would be better treated with in-person care and we can’t meet with you in person, we will always be honest with you and help you find a provider that fits your condition in your area.

How do I get started with one of the wellness services?

We pride ourselves on the customization of our wellness packages. Because of this, our website only shows examples of some of our more popular items. Please contact us for details about your individual wellness needs.

Do you accept insurance?

No. Currently, we accept cash, check, credit card, or bank transfer payments for all services.

Montri Therapy can provide a bill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.   Depending on your deductible and out-of-network reimbursement rates, sometimes physical therapy with Montri can be the same or less than in-network providers.

Montri Wellness provides wellness services and these are rarely covered by any insurance provider. Some insurance carriers may provide you with discounts based on your participation in our programs.

Why does Montri Therapy not accept insurance?

Montri Therapy is focused on giving patients quality, individualized care. Unfortunately, insurance can often create hurdles that limit the quality in care, by removing the middle man we are able to focus on providing the care that meets your specific goals/needs.

What about Medicare?

Montri Therapy Inc. does not have a relationship with Medicare, which means patients who wish to submit to Medicare for reimbursement for treatment that Medicare normally covers may not be treated at Montri Therapy Inc.  However, the list of conditions that Medicare does not cover is significant and includes any issue that began greater than one year from the start of PT service, wellness care, maintenance care, and more. In other words, you may be treated here if your condition is chronic (> 1year), or is considered maintenance or wellness care. The wellness care would likely qualify as services provided by Montri Wellness LLC.

What makes Montri employees different from others out there?

We are a boutique health and wellness clinic with big goals. We only work with the most qualified therapists. Our current staff all have doctoral degrees, residency training in orthopaedic physical therapy, and additional experience in holistic wellness.

What will my first physical therapy session be like?

At this time all, most of our services are virtual. Before your first session you will receive an emailed link to paperwork to fill out/sign electronically in your patient portal.

Virtual physical therapy sessions take place on Zoom and we will email you a link to your Zoom meeting along with a confirmation of your scheduled date and time. During your first physical therapy session we will be asking questions to better understand you and the issue bringing you to physical therapy. You will be provided a personalized plan for future sessions. By the end of most sessions you will be provided an exercise to continue your progress until the next session.

How do I know I need physical therapy?

In many cases a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner will have written you a prescription for physical therapy because of a diagnosis or limitation they identified. In other cases you might have simply been noticing weakness or pain that you are curious to have looked at by a physical therapist, in this case we are also happy to see you without a referral. In either scenario we are always screening for other potential diagnoses to make sure you are a proper candidate for physical therapy and to see if there are any other health care providers who might be able to better help you.

What will my first Live Better Private or group wellness session be like?

At this time, most of our services are virtual. Before your first session you (and anyone in your group) will receive an emailed link to access paperwork to fill out/sign electronically in our client portal. A confirmation email with the date, time, and a link to your Zoom meeting will be sent prior to your appointment.

During your first wellness training session you will discuss your goals, undergo a basic health screen (usually through the signed paperwork), and then proceed with an introduction to the type of exercise/wellness session you are interested in having.
